Course Overview

Start Your Career in the Merchant Navy

GP Rating is an entry-level maritime training programme for candidates interested in building a professional career onboard merchant vessels.

The programme develops foundational maritime knowledge, practical skills, safety awareness and shipboard discipline required for working in both Deck and Engine departments.

Eligibility

Age 17.5–25 years. Candidates may apply through the 10th, 12th or approved 2-year ITI route, subject to the required 40% marks criteria.

Age relaxation: SC/ST candidates up to 30 years; non-creamy-layer OBC candidates up to 28 years; degree or diploma holders up to 27 years.

Admission Essentials

A valid passport and medical examination by a DG Shipping-approved doctor are compulsory. The prospectus and application form cost ₹750.

Following medical clearance and selection, the full fee is payable in advance by demand draft in favour of Sea Scan Maritime Foundation, payable at Vasco da Gama.
